Hello!

I'm Kellie, Registered Nurse and the maker behind Healing with the Grain.

After spending years caring for patients in emergency and critical care, I found that working with wood offered something profoundly different: patience instead of urgency, creativity instead of crisis, and quiet moments where I could simply make something beautiful. I found that woodworking wasn't just a hobby—it became a place of restoration.

That experience inspired me to start Healing with the Grain in my garage. In woodworking, it is well known that if you work "with the grain" of the wood instead of against it, the work goes more smoothly. It creates flow instead of problems. It sooths instead of fights.

Every project I create is guided by three simple values to harness that flow for everyone:
 

Care — Craftsmanship, attention to detail, and creating pieces that are built to last. Caring for you, for myself, and for others through intention and handcrafting.

Calm — Encouraging moments of peace, mindfulness, and slowing down through touching real wood, and learning to be a maker.

Create — Following my inner soul with curiosity and inspiring you to do the same, to find the inner peace, confidence, and satisfaction of building something with your own hands.

My shop offers handcrafted wood products, and soon will offer digital woodworking design files and workshops designed to welcome makers of every experience level.
